She discovers her doppelganger in an antique painting, hears strange stories about werebears, and after putting on an antique necklace, she completely blacks out.
When Sadie wakes up she is in an unfamiliar time, and betrothed to a vile lord who tries to have his way with her. It doesn’t take her long to get herself thrown into the castle’s dungeon with a handsome and mysterious highlander. Will Sadie and the Highlander find a way to escape? Why does the highlander have such a strange reaction to Sadie’s necklace?

Sadie goes to Scotland (although the book said she went to Ireland) to visit where her family is from. She takes a tour of her family's castle and starts hearing someone saying her name. She follows the voice and winds up in a room where she finds a necklace. She puts the necklace on and she's transported back in time. Once there, she has a confrontation with Lord Lachlan and winds up in the dungeon with James.James is a Highlander and a bear shifter who was captured by Lachlan's men. He comes up with a plan to escape and to take her with him to his clan. After they escape, she finds out that she is part of a prophecy that will help preserve the bear clan from going extinct.
This is an interesting take on bear shifters with the added time travel aspect. There were a couple of inconsistencies about where James was injured.
**Spoiler Alert**
During the fight it says his shoulder was bitten, but later it says his stomach was torn open. Then when he goes after Sadie to rescue her after she was kidnapped, he was so overcome with pain that he had to be carried by someone else. But after they rescue her, he was able to not only carry her, but have sex with her while Sadie is running her hands all up and down him? I don't think so.
To me, there's not much chemistry between the two of them. The sex is kind of rushed every time and not very satisfying to read. There is a HEA with no cliffhanger and it's a short read that ended on my Kindle app at 15%. Oh, and on a side note.... The cover is nice, but the bear shifters didn't carry swords, the bad guys did.

I have only read the Werebear. The first story but I was so happy with it I wanted to leave a review. It was so gripping that I couldn't put it down. I was so worried about Sadie and the to men that thought they would get her. But James came through for her. Awesome story.
I have finished reading the rest of the bonus books and though there were a couple that though good didn't really move me. With that said there was a lot that did. If you get this book read all of them. Some moved me to tears.
I have to say that I was really surprised when I read this book. I just couldn't get enough of it.
The first book was my favorite and I will say that the second one wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I guess I was a little disappointed in the ending. I know she still got her HEA but not the way I thought she would.
I love shifter books and this gave me a chance to read several in one book. I just couldn't seem to put it down. I liked this author's writing style and not everything was predictable. I have read several books by this author.
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Arc of this book. This book start with Sadie touring a castle in Ireland that was an old ancestor of hers when she keeps hearing her name. She goes in a room and puts on a old necklace that's on the floor. She passes out and when she wakes up she is back when the pictures on the castle walls was new. She fights a man who says she has to marry him and gets thrown into a dungeon instead. There is a man named James who helps her escape into the forest who turns into a bear shifter. He says he can help her return maybe to her own time with his clans help, so off the story goes.
I truly enjoyed reading this book , I love paranormal and Time Travel . Hot romance . A modern woman travels to Ireland , to her roots and her ,new self after a failed marriage . So how she transported to the past ,where Scottish accents ,yummy ripped muscles bodies wearing kilts . Three men/ werebears want her, Can she have Alpha Bear or yummy werebear or Lord Lachlan. For a HEA . WHO WOULD YOU PICK? I VOLUNTARILY To review Advanced Read Copy of this book for honest review . I recommend this book if you into paranormal and time travel . If not, give this book a try.
Time of the Werebears by Sky Winters is a Paranormal Romance
Sadie is on a tour at her family's castle in Scotland when she hears someone yelling her name. Sadie follows the voice and finds herself standing in front of a painting of her doppelganger standing next to the evil Lord Lachlan. The tour guide stops in front of the painting and explains that the painting is of Lord Lachlan with his wife before the execution of a Highland rebel. Sadie is freaked out and runs to another section of the castle, where she wanders into an unlocked room and sees a gold necklace sitting on a table. When Sadie picks up the necklace and puts it on, she faints and wakes up in the same room, only the room and everything in it looks new. A servant bursts into the room and tells Sadie to try on a wedding dress so that it can be fitted before her wedding to Lord Lachlan.
Sadie is confused and tells the servant she can't marry Lord Lachlan. The servant leaves the room and Lord Lachlan himself comes in and wants to sample the wares before the wedding. When Sadie pulls a dagger on Lord Lachlan, he has her thrown into the dungeon with another prisoner, the stunningly handsome James, a Highland rebel. Sadie and James manage to escape after James steals the key while the guard was being distracted by the beautiful Sadie. James brings Sadie back to his clan of werebear shifters and the council strike a deal with Sadie ... they will help her get back home if she has a baby with the alpha. The necklace Sadie is wearing can only be worn by the woman who will give birth to the heir of the alpha, without which the werebear clan will die out. Sadie wants James but he's not the alpha. James wants Sadie and is very sad and upset at this turn of events. Lord Lachlan also wants Sadie and won't give up easily. Will James be able to claim Sadie and protect her from Lord Lachlan?
Time of the Werebears is an exciting story that's action packed, suspenseful and steamy. Sky Winters' winning combination of an intriguing plot with fascinating and engaging characters had me reading this book in one go. I highly recommend this book.
